Josh understands the nuances of scoring as a composer and performer. He has earned an ARCT Diploma in Classical Piano Performance issued by the Royal Conservatory of Music, and has over 15 years of experience in classical and jazz genres.

Josh Santos is a film composer based in Vancouver, BC. His compositional style blends sophisticated orchestration with commanding hip-hop inspired production chops.
Josh is most known for his score for the feature comedy Hoorah 99 directed by Ash Smith and starring NYC rap icon Ja Rule.
Josh draws his unique sound from his versatility as both a proficient record producer and classically-trained artist. Josh received his ARCT diploma in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music. He then studied Jazz composition with mentor Roland Rácz and began producing Jazz infused Hip Hop records.
Josh’s work as a hip-hop producer was recognized by a rapidly growing cult fanbase, amassing a large online presence and reaching the top 3.2% of all live-streamers on Twitch. This homegrown success was quickly followed by work with GRAMMY award-winning producer Ian Prince, contributing to a collaborative portfolio of over 40 artists and producers worldwide. Josh’s music has been featured in publications from Xttrawave, Sinusoidal Music, SoundBetter, and Music Insider, with the latter highlighting Josh’s “groovy and hypnotizing pop sensibilities.”
As a composer, Josh earned a placement in the Screen Composers Guild of Canada Mentorship program with veteran composer Lodewijk Vos (HBO, CBC, VICE). Josh was awarded the BC DAS Scholarship in Music Composition, and continues to push the envelope of genre-bending film scores from his home studio in Vancouver, Canada.
