Josh understands the nuances of scoring as a composer and performer. He has earned an ARCT Diploma in Classical Piano Performance issued by the Royal Conservatory of Music, and has over 15 years of experience in classical and jazz genres.

About
Josh Santos is quickly emerging as one of Vancouver’s most exciting new voices in film music. In under three years he has scored over 40 films across comedy, drama, documentary, and animation, building a reputation for remarkable range and a bold sonic signature.
His scoring credits include the feature comedy Hoorah 99 starring NYC rap icon Ja Rule, alongside a string of productions starring Hudson Williams, including Encore, Sheepskin, and ChadGPT. Santos also scored Rancid, directed by Williams, which won best film at Hollywood Shorts Fest.
Santos is currently scoring two major Vancouver-based projects: the three-part Knowledge Network docuseries Seeking Saltwater City directed by Ryan Mah, and Lifeline, Ilhan Abdullahi's debut indie feature drama, alongside a growing slate of feature and series work currently in development. Through this growing body of work, Santos was selected for VIFF's highly competitive Composer Filmmaker Accelerator becoming the program's first Vancouver-based and youngest participant to date.
Santos draws from a rare breadth of musical influences blending classical training and producer's instinct. He received his ARCT diploma in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music, then studied jazz composition under mentor Roland Rácz. Then, as an electronic music producer he collaborated with GRAMMY award-winning producer Ian Prince and landed a placement on Apple Music's Future Funk editorial playlist with Your Energy by Sarey Savy. He was later selected for the Screen Composers Guild of Canada's mentorship program under veteran composer Lodewijk Vos (HBO, CBC, VICE), and is currently nominated for the SCGC's inaugural Rising Talent Award at the Canadian Screen Music Awards (CASMA). Santos continues to push the envelope of genre-bending film scores from his home studio in Vancouver, Canada.
